At ECM Plastics, we manufacture compounds based on specialty polymers ranging from polylactide (PLA) and other biopolymers, to fluoropolymers such as FEP, PFA, PTFE, and PVDF.

PLA is a biodegradable, thermoplastic, aliphatic polyester derived from renewable resources, such as corn starch or sugar. Because if its biodegradability, PLA is often used for packaging, compost bags, food packaging, and disposable tableware, and for fibers and non-woven textiles.

Biopolymers are manufactured from sugars, vegetable oils, and bacteria, and present a viable option to traditional petroleum derived products. Biopolymers are more environmentally friendly, as the products can be composted, incinerated or recycled while using less energy and releasing fewer toxic substances in the production process.

Fluoropolymers are known for superior non-stick properties, associated with its use as a coating on cookware, and as a soil and stain repellant for fabrics and textiles. Due to their non-stick and friction reducing properties, fluoropolymers are the product of choice when metals and other plastics fail, or where extraordinary purity is required or extended durability and reliability is required.

ECM Plastics produces fluoropolymer resins with exceptional resistance to high temperatures, chemical reaction, corrosion, and stress-cracking, suitable for a wide range of polymer processing applications such as injection molding, extrusion and coextrusion.
